Construction Asset Management Software Development Case Study
About The Project
SitePlant is an Ireland-based construction technology company that has one vision in mind – to manage the construction assets effortlessly for cutting the waste and boosting the profits. To help construction companies track, manage, and optimize their equipment (both owned and hired), SitePlant partnered with BitBreeze to develop a construction asset management software.
The Challenges
In the construction industry, it is difficult for foremen to keep a project on track without having to optimise equipment use. They like to have equipment at hand on jobsites so they are ready to go. However, an intense accumulation of equipment can lead to hiring unnecessarily elsewhere.
This is where SitePlant comes to make it easy for foremen to deallocate “owned” equipment and make it available for others while reducing the daily charge against their jobsite.
There is also a lack of a construction asset management system showing lists of all hired equipment alongside owned equipment to give a real-time view of what the foremen have in hand.
Overall, the construction industry has the following challenges in asset management:
- Large hire bills
- Buying unnecessary equipment
- Hiring unnecessary equipment as similar assets lie elsewhere
- Theft or misuse of equipment
- Wasting time looking for equipment
The Solutions
To combat the challenges in construction asset management, BitBreeze became SitePlant’s tech partner in building a one-of-a-kind, one-click asset management system that helps to return hired equipment before those excess hire bills start to rack up.
We provided a team of 3 back-end developers, 2 front-end developers, and a mobile developer to work on this construction asset management software.

Users are sent instant notifications when assets are moved outside designated areas or used outside scheduled hours.
Offline mode
Users can access critical asset information even when the network is poor, syncing when online.
Photo uploads from the site
Users can attach photos to inspections, damage, or asset requests directly from the site.
Role-based mobile dashboards
Foremen and plant managers receive relevant information for their roles, improving usability and adoption.
Results
The construction asset management software created a significant impact on the operational and financial results for SitePlant and its users.
- Reduced hiring costs through timely off-hiring and optimized swapping between owned and hired equipment.
- Improved utilization of assets through real-time tracking, reporting, and role-based dashboards.
- Lower probability for equipment loss through GPS tracking, geofencing, and compliance also helped.
In addition, there were other indirect benefits, such as foremen and plant managers being able to make faster decisions with more confidence through mobile access and real-time cost information. The one-click workflows enabled high user adoption, while the scalability of the solution allowed it to manage multiple projects, roles, and integrations. Overall, SitePlant solidified its position as a reliable construction technology solution, as well as a robust enterprise asset management software for modern construction companies.
